Lee Printing is a full service printing company established in 1970 by Gene and Hedy Lee.

Gene Lee came to the United States from China as a student in 1949. It was during the Korean War and he was promptly drafted. He was sent not to Korea but to Europe. He met his wife Hedy in Germany. They married and returned to Houston after his military service. After operating a small neighborhood grocery store for 15 years, they decided to look for a different kind of business. They checked out several franchise opportunities but in the end chose to do something on their own. Gene enrolled in printing courses at the University of Houston. When they found a store for lease on Leeland Street, not too far from where they lived, they bought a secondhand printing press and some other printing equipment. Gene also ordered a Chinese typewriter and several boxes of Chinese type from Hong Kong (personal computers were not available at that time).

Lee Printing was the first shop in the Southwest to offer Chinese printing. The Lees worked side by side 10 and 12 hours a day learning the ropes of how to run a successful printing business. Their son Sam Lee, along with his sisters, helped in the print shop after school. Today he is the manager of Lee Printing Company.

By providing competitive prices, quality printing and timely delivery, the Lees have developed a strong and loyal customer base. Over the years they have won numerous awards for printing excellence. They were also honored with the U.S. Small Business Administration "Award for Excellence." The entire staff at Lee Printing is dedicated to providing the ultimate care and service to each and every job.

Since my father, Gene L. Lee passed away in October of 2010 I continue to operate Lee Printing Co. with the help of my mother Hedy Lee and our long-time employees Mary, Elize, Fabian, and Johnny Lee. They are joined by Everett, our new graphic designer. We all want to thank you for your business and loyalty.

Please be assured that you will continue to receive the best service and quality printing as in the past. Following is a tribute to my Dad from our long-time valued customers and friends at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church that we would like to share with you.
